Today’s class

This is to sum up what we’ve been doing tonight:

You got the answers for your worksheet on “A Series of Catastrophes”, you got the solutions on p. 31 / 3 a, b and c.
You got the German counterparts for the two sheets that are homework – UNTIL WEDNESDAY – we are going to check them in two days, so please bring them along!!
We read some explanations and plenty of examples on Reported Speech, so the sheet you have to do at home won’t be a big problem.

Until next time,

Homework

Hi guys,
Please do the sheets I handed out in class:
– Reported Speech
– Look
– Professions

If you need more material concerning the grammar, please contact me or check the dropbox-folder.

See you,

Beautiful British Accent

Hi guys,

if you want to listen to a beautiful British accent, please watch the video. I am sure you will understand what it’s about – let me know if you agree with Brand’s opinion or not and why.

P.S.: Laughing and grinning is totally allowed čśë

preparing a debate

In addition to p. 31 / ex 4, I want you to take a look at p. 274 ff.
You will find some guidelines and good tips on how to prepare for a debate. You will need this in the final exam!
Please read these three pages (THIS IS HOMEWORK!)

– p. 32 / Changing Families

traditional families:
nuclear families, natural, adopted, break up, separate, divorce, support, breadwinner, homemaker, look after sb., double income, childcare, family unit, extended family, bring sb. up, family values.

new kinds of families:
natural, adopted, one-parent families, break up, separate, divorce, support, breadwinner, stay single, look after sb., double income, childcare, family unit, extended family, bring sb. up, family values, gay couple, surrogate mother, test-tube baby, clone.

– differences between so-called “traditional families” and “new kinds of families” are relatively superficial, concern the structure rather than the substance of family life.
